Product studioODM/OEM productSoftware and AIMarketing

Products, software and AI for businesses that already have a market.

AM Advisory takes ODM/OEM products into production, from consumer electronics to industrial machinery, builds AI-centred software platforms and supports companies in marketing. One counterpart, from brief to series.

OEM / ODM

Two models, a choice to make with data.

OEM

The factory produces the client’s design

Specifications, design and components are defined by the client. The factory manufactures according to drawings and requirements.

  • Maximum control over design and components
  • More development work upstream
  • Suited to differentiating products
ODM

The factory provides an already designed product

The product exists: it is customised for brand, appearance, features and packaging.

  • Reduced development time and cost
  • Customisation within the limits of the existing base
  • Suited to fast market entry

Process

Six phases, each with a deliverable.

Each phase ends with a verifiable document or sample. The next phase starts only after approval.

The process in detail

  1. Product analysis

Review of the starting product or idea: components, materials, costs, risks and positioning against equivalent products.

    Output: Analysis report
  2. Design and prototyping

Definition of form, functions and interfaces, both physical and software, up to an assessable prototype.

    Output: Concept and prototype
  3. Factory selection and verification

Shortlist with stated criteria, document review and visit, direct or through a third-party inspector named explicitly.

Output: Comparison sheet and verification report
  4. Feasibility and specifications

Technical specifications, bill of materials and quality requirements agreed with the chosen factory, with risks and costs made explicit.

    Output: Technical specification
  5. Sample and validation

Samples compared against specifications, corrections and formal acceptance before moving to series production.

    Output: Validation report
  6. Production, quality control and launch

Pre-series, quality control during production and before shipment, and support for the market launch.

    Output: Quality control plan

Who it is for

When it makes sense. And when it does not.

When it makes sense
  • Sales already running in volume, with a third-party product resold
  • Need to improve an existing product or change supplier
  • Stated development budget and an internal contact for compliance
  • An active or demonstrable sales channel
When it does not make sense
  • An idea with no development budget
  • A request for pure brokerage at the lowest price
  • A regulated product with no compliance contact
  • Expectations of a guaranteed sales outcome

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

All answers

What is the difference between OEM and ODM?
In OEM the factory produces a product designed by the client, who defines specifications and design. In ODM the factory provides an already designed product, which the client customises and sells under its own brand. OEM gives more control over the design; ODM reduces development time and cost.
For which volumes does it make sense?
For businesses that already sell in volume or have a demonstrable sales channel. Minimum quantities depend on the product and the factory and are verified in the feasibility phase, before development budget is committed.
Who owns IP, tooling and drawings?
Ownership of intellectual property, tooling, drawings and code is defined in writing in the engagement and in the contracts with factories, before work starts.
How are factories verified, and by whom?
Through document review, sample requests and a visit. The visit is carried out directly or by a third-party inspector, always named explicitly in the verification report.
